Adrian Look - Choreographer

BIOGRAPHY

Adrian Look is a freelance dance artist and lecturer for Tanztheater. He studied dance at the Folkwang University in Essen and in his final year was voted “best dancer to look out for” by the journal, “Theater Pur”.

From 2009 to 2012, Adrian was a member of the dance theatre of Bielefeld, Germany, dancing in works by Guilherme Bothelho (Alias Company), Simone Sandroni (Deja donné), Giovanni Netzer (Origen Festival), Gregor Zöllig, Urs Dietrich, Stephan Brinkmann, and Rainer Behr (Pina Bausch). 

In 2013, he choreographed several projects in Germany and Switzerland, highlights include:
Vertrauenselig
a piece involving a community group of 100 amateur dancers including disabled participants
Da Pacem
a liturgical concert concerning conflict between various religions
Anyone could say that
a project with refugee teenagers from various countries torn by war

Adrian has worked with several dancers from the “Pina Bausch-Tanztheater Wuppertal”- Company including Dominique Mercy, Malou Airaudo, Stephan Brinkman and Rainer Behr.

Adrian is a regular tutor at The Place and Morley College and a visiting lecturer at the University of Bedfordshire. He has taught workshops in contemporary dance, ballet, and improvisation for over 15 years and has led classes for various professional companies, including Alvin Ailey II, Tanztheater Bielefeld and the Origen Festival in Switzerland.
Adrian is also running independent classes and workshops at The Place, Trinity and Laban, Siobhan Davies, Chisenhale Dance and Greenwich Dance.

 

Adrian moved to the UK in March 2014 when he formed T a n z t h e a t e r Adrian Look (TAL).
